DAHLIA WAKEFIELD BIO

A multifaceted artist, Dahlia Wakefield juggles roles as a powerhouse singer-songwriter, performer, recording artist, session/backup singer, mentor, agent, band leader, vocal coach, promoter and mother of two beautiful girls who also love music.

Her musical journey began at age five, and she has performed professionally for over 20 years. In addition to rocking big stages, Dahlia enjoys heartfelt solo performances at retirement homes, and singing lead and backups for other many tribute acts as well as on other artists’ recordings. Dahlia graduated with Distinction from Grant MacEwan University’s Music Program, majoring in Vocal Performance, and since 2011, Dahlia has been a professional vocal and beginner piano coach.

Dahlia embodies the phrase “a little bit country and a whole lot of rock and roll.” She has released three solo albums and numerous singles, and her songwriting accolades include finalist placements in international competitions and co-writes with other artists. Dahlia’s current single “Light of the Phoenix” was the Gold Medal winner for “Best Rock Song for Social Change” in the European International Songwriter Awards Spring 2026 Session. Her last rock single “WELL DRESSED LIES”, the third single off her upcoming album “Phoenix Rising” recently garnered multiple nominations through the International Singer Songwriter Association (ISSA) for 2026 International Entertainer of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year, Rising Star, Female Single of the Year – Well Dressed Lies, Female Songwriter of the Year, and Female Emerging Artist. Dahlia’s song “Dreams of Yesterday” was an official nominee in the 2025 Elite Music Awards, and her “Still Waters” received a 2024 Josie Award nomination for songwriting in Nashville. It was co-written by Kevin Frey, who is also a co-writer on the majority of the songs on her upcoming album.

A hardworking artist, Dahlia also currently performs in various other bands, including the Dahlia & Alan Duo, the hard rock band Kerosene, casino/mix band Dahlia & The Villains, and occasionally with 80s metal cover band Shocker. She has been a member of country/rock band Dirt Road Angels since 2013, releasing four albums, many singles and opening for top country acts. More recently she performs with “Twilight Time”, a Tribute to The Platters/Doo-Wop Music. Her Heart Tribute band, Brigade, will be opening for Colin James, Nick Gilder of Sweeney Todd, The Headpins and Honeymoon Suite at Cornstock 2026 in Taber, AB on July 25, 2026.

Dahlia’s music career continues to flourish year after year. New Year’s Eve 2023 was a highlight for Dahlia as she and her Villains band performed for over 10,000 people in Churchill Square in Edmonton. She says it was exhilarating to be able to play her own music to so many people! In February 2023, Dahlia was chosen out of many singers to become the band “Toronto”’s backup singer for their Calgary show and Dahlia repeated that honour in February 2025 in Edmonton.
Since 2020, Dahlia has released many standalone singles: “You Don’t Get To Win”, “Visiting Hours”, “Poison” (Alice Cooper cover), “Now’s the Time”, “Still Waters”, and “Dreams of Yesterday”. Dahlia plans on releasing her new rock album “Phoenix Rising” in October 2026. She has already released four singles off the upcoming album: “Queen of Overthinking”, “Goodbye”, “Well Dressed Lies” with her fourth single “Light of the Phoenix” released as a one song label deal from Skyrocket Records on May 18, 2026. Dahlia has received critical acclaim in local newspaper articles and music blogs, such as Canadian Beats, Find Your Sounds, Cashbox, Tinnitist, Record World International and more with coverage in Belgium, Australia, The UK, Greece, and more.

Music is more than a career for Dahlia—it’s a lifelong passion. As she continues to perform, record, and teach, she inspires others to pursue their dreams, proving that it’s never too late to reach for the stars.
